Gem Deodorant Review (2026): Roll-On, Spray & Cream Compared, Plus Every Scent
, 3 min reading time
An honest Gem deodorant review: how the roll-on, spray and cream compare, what every scent smells like (Santal, Vanilla Sugar, Cool Fresh and more), and which to buy.
Is Gem deodorant actually good? It's one of Australia's most talked-about body care launches, but the range has three formats that work differently and more than a dozen scents. This review compares the Gem roll-on, spray and cream, explains what each scent smells like, and tells you which to buy.
Yes, for the right person. The roll-on and spray are 48-hour antiperspirants with a skin-care angle (hyaluronic acid, shea butter and vitamin E) and dessert-style scents, at a price below many premium brands. The cream is a gentler, aluminium-free alternative that controls odour but not sweat. The right pick depends on whether you want sweat control or an aluminium-free formula.
Gem built its following on oral care, then moved into deodorant, body care and SPF. The deodorant range stands out for its gourmand scents, skin-care ingredients and attractive packaging. Matching scents across deodorant, body wash and fragrance mist also makes it easy to build a routine.

The Gem roll-on is the easiest place to start. It's compact, quick to apply and priced at $7.95. It's enriched with shea butter, vitamin E and hyaluronic acid, and it's alcohol-free and paraben-free. Available in Coconut Vanilla, Santal and Vanilla Macadamia.
The 207ml spray is made in Australia, alcohol-free and paraben-free, and is the best-value format per ml. It dries fast and suits people who dislike roll-ons. Scents: Cool Fresh, Coconut & Vanilla, Vanilla & Macadamia and Santal. Spray it about 15cm from clean, dry underarms.
The 73ml cream is the one aluminium-free and baking-soda-free option. You apply it with clean fingertips, a small amount goes a long way, and it works on more than just the underarms. It manages odour but doesn't stop sweat. Scents: Mango & Coconut, Vanilla Macadamia and Watermelon Fresh.
You'll also see Vanilla Sugar, Summer Spritz and Roasted Almond & Toffee at supermarkets and pharmacies. We don't currently stock those as deodorants. Coconut Vanilla and Vanilla Macadamia are the closest sweet options, and Vanilla Sugar is available as a body wash.
Gem's Skin-Loving scents aren't gendered, and plenty of men use Santal and Cool Fresh. Gem also has a separate Sport-Loving range with a 72-hour claim, which we don't currently stock. Try Cool Fresh or Santal if you want something less sweet.
Pair your deodorant with the matching Coconut Vanilla, Santal or Vanilla Macadamia fragrance mist. For the full routine, see our Gem body lotion guide.
