Description
Weleda Baby Nappy Change Cream White Mallow Fragrance Free is a barrier-style nappy cream formulated for highly sensitive, very dry skin. Weleda's own claim for it is direct: it protects and regenerates. It comes in a 50ml tube and contains zinc oxide, a well-established skin-protecting ingredient.
Built around zinc oxide and white mallow
Zinc oxide is the standout functional ingredient here, included for its skin-protecting properties, the same reason it appears in many established nappy creams. Alongside it, Althaea officinalis (white mallow) root extract and viola tricolor (heartsease) extract are included for their traditional soothing use in skincare. The cream carries the National Eczema Association's Seal of Acceptance and Weleda's Certified Natural Skin Care mark.
A more targeted formula
Like the rest of Weleda's Derma range, this cream is positioned for highly sensitive, very dry skin rather than as a light, everyday-only barrier cream. It's fragrance-free throughout, which removes one of the more common triggers for irritation in the nappy area specifically, where skin is already exposed to moisture and friction.
What else is in the formula
The base also includes coconut oil, sweet almond oil, sesame seed oil, borage seed oil and beeswax, giving it a richer, more emollient texture than a simple zinc paste.
How to use it
Apply a layer to clean, dry skin at each nappy change, or as needed if you're using it more as a protective barrier during a flare-up of redness or irritation.
A note on persistent nappy rash
This is a cosmetic barrier cream rather than a medicated treatment. If nappy rash is severe, doesn't improve, or keeps recurring, it's worth checking with your GP, maternal health nurse or pharmacist rather than relying on any cream alone.
