Description
Weleda Baby Teething Oral Powder is a homoeopathic medicine traditionally used to help relieve the discomfort and restlessness of teething in babies and children. It comes in a 60g jar.
What it is
This is a homoeopathic medicine, made from equal parts Matricaria chamomilla root and oyster shell (Conchae, calc. carb.), traditionally used within the anthroposophic and homoeopathic tradition for teething discomfort. It's worth understanding it in that context: this is a traditional-use product rather than one supported by conventional clinical evidence, and it's regulated and labelled accordingly.
Important allergen information
This product contains lactose and mollusc products (from the oyster shell ingredient). If your baby has a known allergy or intolerance to either, check with your pharmacist or GP before use.
How to use it
Give a quarter of a level 5ml teaspoon (equivalent to 1g) of powder mixed into a teaspoonful of warm water, or give it straight to babies who are already used to eating solids. It can be given 3 to 4 times daily throughout the teething period, or as directed by your health professional. It can also be given as often as every 15 minutes, for up to 6 doses, if needed.
If symptoms persist, talk to your health professional rather than continuing to rely on the powder alone.
Storage and handling
Keep this and all medicines out of reach of children. Do not use if the seal is broken, and store below 30°C, away from direct sunlight and strong-smelling substances.
A note on teething more broadly
Teething affects babies differently, and discomfort can have a range of causes and severities. This powder is one option among several traditional and conventional approaches to teething comfort, and it's worth discussing your baby's specific symptoms with a maternal health nurse, pharmacist or GP if you're unsure what's causing distress or how to manage it.
